|Object Name||Chair, Shoeshine|
This shoe shining chair was used by Jonas Alexander in Barber Shops on Main Street in Warsaw, MO. For many years, Jonas was the only Black man living in Warsaw. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He lived from 1879 to 1975. He probably shined shoes for half the male population of Benton County. The chair is of sturdy oak, and while it shows much use and some wear on the step, it is in good condition.
